BlackBerry KEYone QWERTY Smartphone Ripe For Picking, Arrives May 31st

Marking BlackBerry's most ambitious device launch to date, the KEYone is also the most powerful smartphone ever released by the company, but also comes packing a few surprises.

We heard earlier that the BlackBerry KeyOne is now available in the United Kingdom with Selfridges and now TCL has announced that the handset will launch in the USA next month.

The first TCL-manufactured phone, the KEYone has a 4.5-inch 1080p screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio, and is powered by Snapdragon 625 processor paired with Adreno 506 GPU and 3GB of RAM.

It will be available for purchase in Canada first, with preorders starting on May 18th. It also comes with a 12MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera.

He said it's easy to predict there will be buyers for the KEYone in countries like India and Indonesia, where the BlackBerry became popular partly because of the security on its phones.

The Android-powered device has a QWERTY keyboard and is the last product designed in part by BlackBerry.

TCL's BlackBerry KeyOne, featuring a 35-key physical keyboard, launches in the USA and Canada in May. The cleverest addition to the keyboard has to be the fingerprint scanner that's been embedded on the spacebar. The device will be available from Canadian carriers Bell, Bell MTS, Rgers, SaskTel and TELUS Business for CAD $199 (around US$146) with a two-year contract, according to TCL's press release.

Gold said there are probably many BlackBerry customers who are eager to get a new hardware-enabled keyboard on a phone that also supports a touchscreen.

The KEYone is the latest BlackBerry-branded Android smartphone.

Eager fans can head to the Selfridges Home and Tech department to get their hands on the device, which is on sale for £499.

You might have already heard that BlackBerry is no longer making its own smartphones.

It's being dubbed the world's most secure Android phone, runs Android 7.1 Nougat with Google Assistant, and has the same camera sensor at the Google Pixel.
