Moto Z2 Play spec details leak out

Numerous Z2 Play's other features are expected to be changed from last year's model, though. The first generation Moto Z was well known for its slim profile and exceptionally good battery life. The decrease in battery capacity comes with a drop in the device's thickness, but that's the exact tradeoff people praised the original Z Play for avoiding.

Arguably the best feature on the classic Moto Z Play was its 3510mAh battery that kept your device going and going - for about 50 hours of expected battery life. The latest tidbit of information is in line with previous speculation that the unannounced Moto smartphone could be an incremental upgrade over its predecessor, the Moto Z Play.

A new leak of the Moto Z2 Play by Evan Blass shows that while the company is strongly following their modular policy the Moto Z2 Play will slim down considerably but not without losing about 15-20 hours from it's impressive usage time. The phone will be powered by an eight-core Snapdragon 626 chip with 2.2GHz, and see a bump in both memory and storage, to 4GB of RAM and 64GB, respectively.

As the update is not official yet so we don't know when the roll out will begin in other countries. On the software side, the Moto Z2 Play will seemingly ship with Android 7.1.1 out of the box.

Finally, while the front-facing 5-megapixel selfie cam on the Z2 Play is largely the same as on the original, Motorola is opting to reduce the resolution of the main camera but increasing its imaging quality.

Furthermore, the phone will have 4 GBs of RAM (compare to the Z Play which had 3 GBs). The report adds that the Moto Z2 Play won't come with many improvements. To that end, gone is the 16-megapixel, f/2.0 module, replaced by a 12-megapixel, f/1.7 component featuring dual autofocus pixels. Those include the new entry-level Moto C and C Plus, the Moto E4 and E4 Plus, and the Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force.
