After Yates, more questions for the Trump White House

Yates testified that she reached out to and met with White House Counsel Donald McGahn about Flynn, who was sacked in February for misleading Vice President Mike Pence about his conversations with the Russian ambassador to the United States.

She said she did not know what happened after that, because Trump fired her that day, January 30, after she said his executive order banning Muslim immigrants was unlawful and instructed Justice employees not to implement it.

Here's the most important thing: Spicer used the fact that Yates refused to enforce Trump's travel ban as evidence that she was a "political opponent" of the President and, therefore, that the White House was right to not simply take her word for it on Flynn.

The former Obama administration officials said he raised general concerns about Flynn with Trump and told the incoming president there were better people for the national security post. White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer minimized the warnings saying that "If President Obama was truly concerned about General Flynn, why didn't they suspend his security clearance, which they approved just months earlier?" With the growing connections to Russian Federation among Trump administration officials, we can only wonder who will be next.

During that time, Flynn was the most senior national security official in the West Wing, privy to every intelligence and foreign policy decision and secret, all the while, at risk of being blackmailed by Moscow, according to Yates.

QUESTION: How is she a political opponent of the president? And never mind that Yates served under both Democratic and Republican presidents, and never mind that she didn't find out about the Muslim ban until long after she had reported on Flynn, and never mind that the ban itself wasn't even announced until long after she had reported on Flynn.

"This was a problem because not only did we believe that the Russians knew this but that they likely had proof of this information", she said.

Trump turned to Twitter to talk back after Yates' testimony Monday.

Asked how he knew that, Spicer said "it was widely rumored" that Yates would "play a role in the Justice Department" if Clinton had won.

Stone, Page, Flynn and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort all received similar requests for information, a person familiar with the Senate investigation said.

Director Clapper reiterated what everybody, including the fake media already knows- there is "no evidence" of collusion w/ Russian Federation and Trump.

Mr Pence said in January that Mr Flynn denied those calls involved sanctions placed on Russian Federation by the Obama administration in response to its election meddling. He said then she informed the White House counsel's office that there were materials relevant to the situation involving Flynn.

Still, in the short term, the testimony of Yates likely means another lost day ahead for the White House as it uses up time and political energy brushing off a new round of questions and allegations about ties to Russian Federation.

Flynn remained on the job, sitting in on highly classified sessions including a phone call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
