UK: Manchester attack investigation still at 'full tilt'

"The investigation is making good progress and we know one of the last places Abedi went was a city center flat and from there he left to make his way to the Manchester Arena".

Before arriving at the concert, which had attracted a young audience including many children, Abedi is believed to have put the final touches to his bomb in a city centre flat.

Late on Saturday, police in Manchester released two CCTV images of Salman Abedi from the night he carried out the atrocity.

Her comments came after police issued CCTV stills of Salman Abedi, bespectacled and casually clothed, in a plea for information about his movements between 18 May and the attack four days later.

Greater Manchester Police said around 1,000 people are involved in the investigation and hundreds of officers are involved in security around Greater Manchester.

Armed police mingled with spectators as crowds gathered to watch the runners, including mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham.

Police activity in the past 24 hours was "significant", and Manchester police have 11 people in custody, prompting intelligence analysts to change the threat level to indicate an attack now is highly likely, rather than imminent, May said.

Police said earlier on Sunday they were also searching an address in Rusholme area.

Police used an explosive device Saturday to get into a property in Manchester to arrest two men, aged 20 and 22.

His father Ramadan and younger brother Hashem have been detained in Libya, with officials there saying the brother was aware of the planned attack.

Since the attack, armed police backed up by the army have been patrolling cities and trains.

Abedi detonated a nail bomb in the foyer of Manchester Arena after the gig on Monday, killing 22 people.

Omar Alfaqhuri, a neighbour who lives just in front of a house that was raided, said he saw "a massive deployment of police forces" during the arrest in the night and a man he named as "Adel" handcuffed and taken away.

Britain's interior minister says the hunt is still on for suspects in the Manchester bombing, and members of attacker Salman Abedi's network may still be at large.

Another place searched was an apartment in a Manchester high-rise that British media say was rented by Abedi in the months before the attack.

Before kickoff, Prince William laid a wreath in memory of the victims alongside Manchester mayor Andy Burnham. Mohammed El-Hudarey, a friend of the landlord, said after Abedi moved out about six weeks ago there was a strong smell of chemicals and debris including metal rods and cut-up fabric.

The NHS said 54 people injured in the attack were still being treated in eight hospitals with 19 receiving critical care.

McIver, who served with Cheshire Police, was at the concert with her partner, Paul, who was wounded in the deadly explosion.

"Until the operation is complete, we can't be entirely sure that it is closed", she said.
