Trump's communications director set to leave White House

The White House refused to confirm reports senior adviser to the president Jared Kushner asked Russian officials to set up an off-the-record communications channel Tuesday.

As scandal after scandal rocks President Donald Trump's White House, news that his fired ex-campaign manager Corey Lewandowski may return to lead the president's Russian Federation "war room" has, according to The Daily Beast, caused concern among staffers.

Dubke wrote in a statement that it had been an honor to serve Trump and "my distinct pleasure to work side by side, day by day with the staff of the communications and press departments".

Spicer said he thinks the president "is very pleased with his team", but he added, "Ultimately the best messenger is the president himself". David Bossie, who served as a deputy campaign manager for Trump, will not be named communications director.

But both Spicer and Conway have 28 percent saying they do more to help the president, while 42 percent say Spicer does more to hurt and 40 percent say the same of Conway.

The Republican-controlled Senate, which confirms Trump's appointments, also faces a packed legislative schedule, leaving it less time to take up nominations.

The president has denied any collusion, repeatedly denouncing the probes by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and several congressional panels as an effort by Democrats to explain Hillary Clinton's upset defeat in the White House race. Ms Conway said Mr Dubke had agreed to continue working while Mr Trump was away on his first worldwide trip as president.

Without mentioning which Trump associates or aides were discussed, the sources told CNN that the conversations involved members of Trump's campaign team.

Trump has said the Russian Federation case was on his mind when he fired Comey, who wrote in a memo that Trump had asked him to shut down its look into a key figure in the investigation - former national security adviser Michael Flynn. The White House has not announced a successor for Dubke, and it's unclear when exactly his last day will be. "I would just say Mr. Kushner's attorney has said Mr. Kushner volunteered to share with Congress what he knows about these meetings". The official was not authorized to publicly discuss private thinking and spoke on the condition of anonymity.
