Ravens add CB Boykin, release CB Arrington

In a corresponding move, the Ravens also released cornerback Kyle Arrington.

The Baltimore Ravens lost second-year cornerback Tavon Young to an ACL injury last week during one of their OTA practices and on Monday they added a few familiar faces to their roster in cornerbacks Brandon Boykin and Al-Hajj Shabazz. He missed all of last season after tearing a pectoral muscle.

Boykin, 26, has made eight interceptions in 64 career games with the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Boykin was a fourth-round pick of the Eagles in 2012 and showed a lot of promise, starting four games at cornerback as a rookie. After struggling with injuries for over a year, the cornerback reached an agreement to sign with the Ravens, per a team announcement. He signed with the Carolina Panthers during free agency in 2016 but was cut about two months later and joined the Bears. The 6-2, 200-pounder has appeared in eight National Football League games with the Steelers (seven in 2016) and Houston Texans (one in 2016), recording one tackle.

Arrington, 30, suffered a concussion during the preseason last August and spent the season on Injured Reserve. Releasing Arrington will reportedly free up $2.1 million in cap room, according to Spotrac. Arrington played primarily in the slot for Baltimore. Boykin could compete for a spot behind Jimmy Smith and Brandon Carr on Baltimore's depth chart.
