Tycoon Mallya spotted at Kohli's charity dinner

Tycoon Mallya spotted at Kohli's charity dinner

Mallya's presence forced the Indian team to leave early in order to avoid any controversy. "Similarly, someone who bought a table must have invited him", a top BCCI source present at the function told PTI today.

While on one hand Indian government is trying hard to extradite Vijay Mallya from the United Kingdom, he was seen enjoying at the recently held India-Pakistan Champions Trophy match in Birmingham.

Mallya, who is now taking refuge in England had watched the high-octane India vs Pakistan clash on Sunday, being played at Edgbaston. There was minimal interaction with the fugitive businessman, the former owner of the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL team, who fled India in March 2016 after defaulting on bank loans with the now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines. There were many people who attended the event but the only one who caught much attention besides the Indian Players is Vijay Mallya.

Mallya was also spotted at the India-Pakistan Champions Trophy clash on Sunday.

Virat Kohli, in his first ICC tournament as captain, had nearly the ideal start against Pakistan as India romped home to victory by 124 runs in a rain-truncated match on Sunday.

Mallya is known to be a cricket lover but BCCI sources were quick to distance team and officials from his presence. "It was an unavoidable situation as one couldn't have possibly asked him to leave", the source added.

Sachin Tendulkar and Alan Wilkins has also attended the event. But, what made headlines was the fact that "absconder" Vijay Mallya was spotted in the crowd at Edgbaston, enjoying the match.
