On the site's homepage, Macron calls President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from the agreement "unfortunate" but adds that the decision "only reinforced our determination".

Just two days before the first round of France's decisive legislative elections, President Emmanuel Macron's La Republique En Marche (LREM) political movement is being tipped to clinch a governing majority in parliament.

Macron wants to nab American climate scientists who disagree with Trump's budget proposal, which cuts global warming programs.

The website is addressed "To all responsible citizens, ' and criticises the 'climatic scepticism of the new government of the United States".

"I do know how your new president now has made a decision to jeopardize your budget [and] your initiatives as he is extremely skeptical about climate change", Macron explained.

It also highlights the country's existing strengths in climate modelling, earth observation, advanced solar PV and energy storage solutions, as well as French academic institutions such as La Sorbonne and Paris-Saclay.

The French leader debuted Make Our Planet Great Again on June 1 in a video criticizing Trump's move.

"Please, come to France, you are welcome", he said, speaking in English.

"I call on you to remain confident", said Macron in the clip. A "Make Our Planet Great Again" tweet from Macron's account was retweeted more than 230,000 times - the most for any tweet in France, according to presidential advisers.
