France is Now Offering US Scientists Grants to Research Climate Change

On the site's homepage, Macron calls President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from the agreement "unfortunate" but adds that the decision "only reinforced our determination".

Just two days before the first round of France's decisive legislative elections, President Emmanuel Macron's La Republique En Marche (LREM) political movement is being tipped to clinch a governing majority in parliament.

Macron wants to nab American climate scientists who disagree with Trump's budget proposal, which cuts global warming programs.

Trump's rationale for pulling the USA out of the nearly-200 nation deal was to save American jobs, something he claimed the deal hindered.

The website is addressed "To all responsible citizens, ' and criticises the 'climatic scepticism of the new government of the United States".

"I do know how your new president now has made a decision to jeopardize your budget [and] your initiatives as he is extremely skeptical about climate change", Macron explained.

It also highlights the country's existing strengths in climate modelling, earth observation, advanced solar PV and energy storage solutions, as well as French academic institutions such as La Sorbonne and Paris-Saclay.

Accompanying President Pablo Kuczynski on an official visit to France, Thorne met with executives of 11 French companies while in Paris this week.

Macron wrote a letter for website visitors saying: "France has always led fights for human rights".

The French leader debuted Make Our Planet Great Again on June 1 in a video criticizing Trump's move.

"Please, come to France, you are welcome", he said, speaking in English.

"I call on you to remain confident", said Macron in the clip. A "Make Our Planet Great Again" tweet from Macron's account was retweeted more than 230,000 times - the most for any tweet in France, according to presidential advisers.
