Iran arrests 7 suspects for supporting Tehran attacks

Suicide bombers and gunmen attacked the Iranian parliament and Ayatollah Khomeini's mausoleum in Tehran on Wednesday. His ministry said two had been detained in the western Iranian province of Kermanshah.

Iranian authorities have arrested seven people it suspects of helping militants involved in this week's attacks in the capital Tehran, a judiciary official said on Saturday.

"The mastermind and main commander of terrorist attacks on the parliament and Mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini was killed today by the security forces", intelligence minister Mahmoud Alavi was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency.

The intelligence ministry, meanwhile, said on Friday that 41 people suspected of being "agents of Daesh (IS)" had been arrested in the aftermath of Wednesday's attacks.

The authorities has said five Iranians, who had joined ISIS and traveled to its Iraq and Syria bastions, carried out the attack.

More than 50 people were wounded in the morning attack on parliament, which was in session.

Trump issued a statement after the attack offering condolences for the victims, while also taking a swipe at Iran.

Referring to recent remarks by Saudi Defence Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Zarif said, "Terror-sponsoring despots threaten to bring the fight to our homeland [Iran]". "Some terrorist cells also have been dismantled", it added.

The ISIS Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for the near-simultaneous assaults. He concludes by threatening the royal family of Saudi Arabia and promises, "after Iran, it will be your turn". One of the men speaks in the sorani Kurdish dialect common among Kurds in northeastern Iraq and northwestern Iran.

The president said it is not the first time the nation witnesses such acts of terror, stressing that "people will find their own way to national goals and unity, and the nation will undoubtedly emerge victorious". By Allah, we will strike you in your own homes.

Parliamentary staff who survived the attack also attended the procession under tight security.

During the funeral, parliament Speaker Ali Larijani called the US the "international" version of the Islamic State and said Washington had exchanged democracy for money, a reference to a recent arms deal between the USA and Saudi Arabia.
