RB Leipzig's Ralph Hasenhuttl "100% sure" Liverpool target Naby Keita is staying

RB Leipzig's Ralph Hasenhuttl

RB Leipzig boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has told Liverpool that Naby Keita won't leave the German club this summer - but hinted a deal could be on next year.

Liverpool looked ready to break the bank to secure his signature after seeking record offers of £57m and £66m rejected.

Guinea midfielder Keita is a target for Premier League side Liverpool after hugely impressing in his first season in the Bundesliga following a move from Leipzig's sister club Salzburg. "It's 100% sure that he will be with RB Leipzig in the Champions League".

Leipzig's stance - both publicly and privately - has been that Keita is not for sale at any price this summer as the club embark on the Champions League for the first time in their history.

And after beating the Bundesliga side 3-0, Klopp was in a playful mood, telling Sky Deutschland: 'Our next offer for Keita is €300 million!'

The player will have a €50 million release clause on his contract next summer though and it is hard to see him remaining at the club beyond that time.

"At the beginning of the transfer window we said we could start with the same team with all the main players we had a year ago and that no one will go and that will be our answer now also". "It's 100% clear that Naby Keita will play this year in Leipzig".

The Guinea worldwide proved that he could provide an attacking threat from the midfield last season, notching up a total of eight goals in his debut campaign with the Bundesliga side.

"Everyone can see now how important Naby Keita is with our game".

"Keita is more focused on us and has more fun now than a year ago".

The only way a transfer could still happen prior to the end of August would be if Leipzig performed a U-turn and decided they do not wish to keep an unhappy player. He knows this season will be fantastic for us.
