7 injured in Russian Federation knife attack

A KNIFE MAN wearing a fake suicide belt has been shot dead by police after stabbing seven people in Russian Federation. "All affected persons were hospitalized with injuries of varying degrees of severity", it said.

Police said that officers had fired warning shots at the scene before firing at the attacker.

She said a motive for the attack had not been determined. Head of the Investigative Committee of Russia Aleksandr Bastrykin has taken personal charge of the incident.

The suspect was shot dead by police after he wounded eight people in Surgut, Siberia, at around mid-day. Information on the man's possible mental disorders will be verified, the committee said.
