Kevin Hart launches the #HurricaneHarveyReliefChallenge

Comedian and actor Kevin Hart posted to his Instagram account and challenged his celebrity friends to donate $25,000. "I think we've participated in a lot of challenges on the internet, some meaningful, come meaningless, but we've all done them", Hart said. He called on celebrities like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Beyonce, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Justin Timberlake, Dave Chappelle, Steve Harvey and Jay Z to follow in his footsteps and donate $25,000.

'At this point, it's a serious matter.

Hart calls the situation on Texas' Gulf Coast and in Houston, where feet of rain have fallen and caused unsafe flooding, "a serious matter" where people need help. "I'm going to lead the charge in stepping up in this way".

Country music star Chris Young also announced on Twitter Sunday that he was starting an online fundraiser for the Red Cross and that he had donated $100,000 to it. "The Man I Want to Be" singer posted an emotional YouTube video about his certainty that his Texas home was destroyed and concern for his friends and family in the state.

Houston Texans player J.J. Watt also initiated a fundraiser, which has now raised more than $522,000, while Lin-Manuel Miranda encouraged people to donate to Baker-Ripley, a Texas charity aimed at building and rebuilding neighborhoods across the country.

Hurricane Harvey continues to devastate Texas, with torrential rain and catastrophic flooding predicted to last several more days. "I encourage everyone to do what they can to assist the people of Texas knowing whatever effort you can make to help will go a long way", the rapper captioned a photo of Texas. She too urged viewers to donate to the Red Cross. I'm praying for these people in Texas.
