Jail Kenyan electoral commission officials, demands Odinga

In his latest onslaught, Mr Odinga said the officials should be prosecuted "for the crime they committed against the people of Kenya".

On September 1, 2017, judges of the Supreme Court of Kenya made history by nullifying a Presidential election. "This is a precedent-setting ruling".

Opposition leader Raila Odinga, Kenyatta's challenger during the presidential election, rejected the initial result in the wake of the vote, prompting violent protests that left at least 16 people dead and dozens more injured.

The court did not place blame on Kenyatta or his party.

However, just days before the election, the body of Christopher Msando, the head of information, communication, and technology at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, was found on the outskirts of the capital Nairobi.

Odinga's lawyer had argued that a scrutiny of the forms used to tally the ballots had anomalies that affected almost 5 million votes. "We are ready but can not repeat the election with this commission".

Odinga called for the election commission to be disbanded.

The two judges voting in opposition to the decision said the elections were free, fair, credible and watched by global observers.

This is also a setback for the worldwide, and some local, election observers, who profusely praised the election as free, fair and credible.

The court ordered that fresh election be conducted within 60 days.

Kenya's opposition chief, Raila Odinga, has described a court decision to annul the country's August 8 presidential elections as historic. A lot of them actually belong in jail.

The court ruled that the presidential elections were not conducted in accordance with the constitution rendering the result "invalid, null and void".

Worldwide election observer missions have said they saw no interference in the August 8 vote.

Instead, opposition supporters exploded in celebration.

"This is despite the fact that you as Kenyans have decided and elected a majority of Jubilee governors, senators, MPs, women reps, and MCAs". Last year, Gabon's president, Ali Bongo, narrowly won another term in an election whose validity was questioned by global observers, extending his family's 50-year rule. "We want an apology", said John Wekesa, who was dancing outside the court.
