Lenovo Immerses into Windows Mixed Reality with Lenovo Explorer

The Fall Creators Update for Windows 10 will be available on 17 October. The Windows 10 Creators Update, which is also known as 1703 (for March 2017) did not start rolling out until mid-April.

Mixed reality is the term Microsoft uses to describe software that covers both augmented and virtual reality. Further, users can save all of their work in OneDrive Files On-Demand and access these cloud files on their PC anytime.

In a blog post, Windows Chief Terry Meyerson said the update is "all about unleashing your creativity and having some fun while at the same time keeping you safe and secure".

"We are working with an incredible set of partners to bring the most immersive experiences to the Windows Store", Klipman said. When activated, Game Mode will let users play their games with the full processing power of their Windows 10 device.

An extended version of Microsoft's Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit will be built into the Windows 10 core and called Windows Defender Exploit Guard. When bundled with motion controller, the headset will cost $449.

The update also comes with some improvements to Windows Ink, allowing you to mark up PDF files in the Edge browser.

The price tag of the upcoming headsets points out that manufacturers aim to compete with each other, but even more with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

Microsoft's been pushing mixed reality hard, introducing Paint 3D earlier this year, and the Fall Creators Update's View 3D adds the ability to view mixed reality creations on your device's screen if it's equipped with a camera. Microsoft recommends updating devices to the latest version of Windows 10 by visiting the Windows Security page and selecting Verify you're updated to manually update your device. By combining our physical and digital worlds, we believe mixed reality is the next step in the evolution of human computing.

The update will be rolled out over a number of months, as Microsoft upgrades Windows 10 machines in phases. And, if you love these Xbox play anywhere games, coming on November 7 you can play them on the most powerful console on the planet, Xbox One X.
