Ox could prove Wenger doubters correct by flourishing at Liverpool

Oxlade-Chamberlain has signed a five-year deal with the Reds following a £35 million move from Premier League rivals Arsenal on deadline day.

So far this summer, Liverpool have signed winger Mohamed Salah from Roma for £34m, full-back Andrew Robertson from Hull for £8m and striker Dominic Solanke after his contract at Chelsea expired.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain thanked everyone at Arsenal following his move to Liverpool, a transfer which he conceded would come as a surprise to many.

"Since the last game I have been waiting and hoping we could make this transfer - and when I got the news he was ours it was fantastic".

The ex-Gunners star says that the move will not have huge benefits to either player nor club as the England worldwide - now on duty with Gareth Southgate's side - sealed a deadline day move up to Merseyside in a £40m deal.

He was behind Nacho Monreal and new signing Saed Kolasinac in the list of left-backs at Arsenal and hadn't featured in any of the team's first three Premier League matches this season.

Klopp reveals he has held a long-held admiration for Oxlade-Chamberlain, having been impressed by the versatile midfielder when he played against his Borussia Dortmund side in September 2014.

"He doesn't strengthen their team but what he does do is strengthen their squad".

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said he was "really happy" to have signed an "exciting" talent he "didn't need to think twice" about.

"I watched the boys in the first few games of the season and they've got a lot of energy", Gibbs said in comments published on the West Brom website. Another player we are linked to who fails to arrive.

"The biggest thing in terms of his impact is his assists and goals".

Sky sources understand Oxlade-Chamberlain will earn a minimum of £120,000 a week at Anfield - a figure which could increase with win bonuses and loyalty payments.
