In a bid to promote cashless digital transactions, Google Inc.'s UPI enabled mobile payments app, Tez, would be launched by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the capital today.

In the information portal, the giant has wrote, "Send money home to your family, split a dinner bill with friends, or pay the neighbourhood chaiwala". To establish an account and to use Tez, you must be in India, have an Indian bank account and an Indian mobile number. Moreover, the app is available in multiple local languages including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada and Telegu.

Google has officially introduced a mobile payments and commerce app in India, called Tez, as was reported would happen last week.

Google has launched this app primarily for the iOS and Android platform and later on, they might expand the platform. The user can also do all this by sending a message from the registered number through "Tez" interface. Although people have liked the design of the app - it is a typical Google app, easy to use and designed with flat and classy material design - many are complaining that the app is not connecting to their bank accounts.

Get Tez Scratch Cards (TM) in the app and be eligible to win up to ₹1,000 with each eligible transaction. It is to be noted that the transactions need to be Rs 50 and more per user. These features may be added in future updates, but for now, Tez is a simple app to send and receive payments.

Long rumored to be developing a custom mobile payment solution for the unique demands of the Indian market, which is largely made up of cheap Android phones without NFC (precluding the use of Android Pay and other like services), Tez uses the UPI standard that has already been adopted by over 50 banks throughout the country. The phone number should be linked to your bank account. You can pay or receive money from anyone who has the Tez App or any other UPI supported app by simply selecting them from your contacts list or by entering their UPI ID.

Business owners and merchants will be able to accept payments using their personal accounts in the Tez app starting Monday. Unified Payments Interface, which enables the service compatible with all the major banks.

Reports say that Axis, HDFC, ICICI, SBI and other banks that use UPI, will be supported by the application. This saves you from the hassle of remembering complicated bank numbers.

All transactions on the app are protected by Tez Shield, the security layer that is designed for the app which constantly detects fraud and makes it hard for anyone to hack it. Above that, banks might start charging fees. You don't need to hunt for coupon codes.
