24 fall ill after consuming food on-board Tejas Express

The catering of Tejas Express is managed by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

According to IRCTC about 290 passengers were served breakfast. All the passengers with symptoms of food poisoning were admitted in a hospital. The train was on its way from Goa's Karmali to Mumbai's Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus. At 9 am, 117 veg and halt at Chiplun station where ailing pas-113 non-veg breakfasts had been served. sengers were rushed to Life Care Hospital. Around 12pm, 3 passengers complained that they were feeling uneasy and felt like vomiting.

Twenty four passengers travelling on Tejas Express from Karmali to Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus have fallen ill after they had food from the pantry auto.

The train also comes equipped with vending machines serving tea and coffee, snack tables, books, and food items pertaining to the local cuisine. The train was on its way from Goa to Mumbai when passengers complained about their deteriorating condition. But, they are still under observation of the doctors of the private hospital, where they were taken to.

In a letter addressed to all zonal general managers, the railway board had said that Goyal has asked that food served to passengers has the name of the supplier or contractor, weight, date of packing and a distinct symbol indicating if it is vegetarian or non-vegetarian. "The kitchen where food was prepared was inspected by area officer Madgaon after the incident and samples collected for testing", IRCTC stated. Sanjay Rao (32), a resident of Panjim, was travelling in the C-5 compartment of the coach with three other family members. A resident of Dombivali, Tripti Desai said she also vomitted several times on her way to Mumbai but decided not to deboard at Chiplun and instead alighted at Panvel.
