Woman Gets 10 Years' Probation for Marrying Her Biological Mother

A 26-year-old Oklahoma woman has been given 10 years of probation this week after admitting she had a sexual relationship with her 44-year-old mother that even led to marriage.

Authorities uncovered their relationship during a child welfare investigation five months later.

Incest is punishable by up to 10 years in prison in Oklahoma.

Patricia Spann told the welfare worker she lost contact with her three kids for years after their paternal grandmother was granted custody, according to court records obtained byThe Lawton Constitution.

She reportedly said her mother told her she had received legal advice indicating that their marriage was legal.

Misty's brother, Cody Spann, said: "I think she's worthless she put my sister into this".

Prosecutors said Patricia Spann also married one of her sons in 2008.

Patricia also was charged with incest in the case and is scheduled to appear in court in January.

Mom has pleaded not guilty - but it isn't her first time at the incest rodeo. The marriage was annulled in 2010 due to "incest", The Associated Press reported. She forced my sister into this, there's a lot of people that now that.

The marriage was annulled October 12 after Misty filed for an annulment "by reason of illegality and fraud", She said her mother told her she had received legal advice indicating that their marriage was legal because Patricia's name was no longer on Misty's birth certificate.

"For you to want to put your own daughter through this, what kind of person are you?"

Patricia told the Oklahoma Department of Human Services that she assumed the marriage wasn't breaking any laws "because her name was no longer listed on Misty's birth certificate". According to local reports, Patricia allegedly married her son because he was in the military, and she wanted to prevent him from going overseas. Patricia told officers about her history with her children as well as her current relationship, not realising what she was saying was incriminating.
