It looks like Microsoft's Office suite is now available for all Chromebooks

Chrome Unboxed checked the Play Store for multiple models of Chromebook, and confirmed the Android app versions of the software appear to be available for all current Chromebooks.

Our strategy has not changed.

Microsoft Office support for Chromebooks has until now been spotty at best.

The experience is of course not as good as full desktop office on windows 10, but certainly, for K-12 level it should be more than good enough. Also, it was frustrating for some Chromebook users as sometimes the apps would show up, but soon disappear without warning, notes Android Authority. As of now, there is no comment from Google and Microsoft over the development.

Neither Microsoft nor Google have had anything official to say about this just yet, and we don't know for certain that it is open to every Chromebook product, but this does so far seem to be the case (and Microsoft had been working on wider support).

Are you able to download the new Microsoft Office suite on your Google Chromebook via the Play Store? Now, their Chromebooks will be compatible with the occasional Office file they receive. This scenario works out as a win-win for Google and Microsoft, increasing adoption of both Chrome OS and Office. The ability to run Android apps was already the biggest strength of the Chrome OS, now the addition of the missing apps makes the OS even more competitive.

However, there is a small requirement for Chromebooks that feature screens larger than 10.1-inch. Last year, Google announced that the Google Play Store and Android apps were coming to Chromebooks, making these devices a really interesting alternative to Windows laptops. The Samsung Chromebook Pro, for example, has a 12.3-inch display, which puts it in the paid bracket.
