Selena Gomez gives tearful speech thanking friend who gave her a kidney

She's beauty and she's grace, she's Miz Selena Gomez. She is now trying to accept who she is, and that's taken her about five years, a few stints in rehab and a lot of therapy.

Mary J. Blige was the night's other big victor - the 46-year-old received the Icon Award.

"To be honest, I think Francia should be getting this award because she saved my life", Gomez said tearfully.

Selena Gomez stunned everyone at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Los Angeles as she attended the 2017 Billboard Women in Music Dinner and Awards Gala.

The "Fetish" singer was presented the award by her best friend, actress Francia Raisa, who gave Gomez a kidney earlier this year to aid her in her battle against lupus.

After pausing for a moment to gather her thoughts, she continued: "I feel incredibly lucky". When asked if blondes have more fun, Selena replied, "So far, it's been great I am not complaining!"

"What's scary is knowing she was two weeks away from kidney failure", she said.

As for the Weeknd, she said they parted ways as besties, "genuinely about encouraging and caring [for each other], and that was pretty remarkable for me".

"Specifically this year, I would like to thank my unbelievable team and my family because they stuck with me through some really hard times", Gomez continued. I love the people who have influenced my life.

"I remember looking at myself in the mirror completely naked and thinking about all the things that I used to bitch about and just asking, 'Why?' I had someone in my life for a very long time who pointed out all the things that I didn't feel great about with myself", Gomez said.
