US Plans 'Bloody Nose' Attack on North Korea

"The Pentagon is trying to find options that would allow them to punch the North Koreans in the nose, get their attention and show that we're serious", the official said.

Neither the White House nor North Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately responded to CNET's request for comment.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has reached out numerous times to North Korea pushing diplomatic negotiations, but Trump admonished him publicly on Twitter and has repeatedly threatened North Korea and insulted its leader, Kim Jong Un. There appears to be a split in the rhetoric between Tillerson and Trump.

THE US is stepping up plans to thwart North Korea's nuke plans with a "bloody nose" strike, it is claimed.

These include destroying a launch site before it can be used for a new missile test.

"But it seems likely, the analysis adds, that the missile had a very light mock warhead, meaning it might lack the power to carry a nuclear payload, which is much heavier, over that distance", the BBC pointed out.

Microsoft actually traced the WannaCry attack back to North Korean government affiliates.

The missile launch defied global sanctions on the country led by dictator Kim Jong Un, and it drew ire across the globe, as this was the highest missile North Korea has ever launched - reaching almost 2,800 miles at its highest. Britain's National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) has also reportedly attributed WannaCry to North Korea, as well.

In reality, analysts agree that North Korea would see any attack as the start of a full-scale war of regime change, and standing military orders are to retaliate against U.S. targets with everything they have, assuming everything not used will be destroyed in the U.S. strikes at any rate.

"Crystal clear is the goal of the United States to try to link to the issue of cyberattack at this very moment when it is hell-bent on making a harshest sanctions resolution against us", the North Korea spokesman said.
