Cinevista Studios gets notice for fire safety violations

Mumbai: A fire broke out in the sessions court building in south Mumbai's Fort today.

This is not the first time the civic body has issued a notice to a Mumbai studio for flouting fire safety norms. While the rooftop of one of the courtrooms was damaged in the fire, there were no injuries or casualties. According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade, a call was received at 07.14 am this morning.

Once the fire was brought under control, the cooling and cleaning operations were undertaken.

An official said there were some people shooting inside the studio, but they were quickly evacuated. At the time of the incident, two TV serials were being shot at the studio - Bepanaah (Colors TV) and Haasil (Sony Entertainment Television).

In a statement with Indian express a guy suggested that "The disaster happened at about 8 pm and fire engines were summoned immediately".

This turns out to be the third major fire incident in Mumbai post Kamala Mills fire on December 29 and Sakinaka fire on December 18 which together claimed lives of at least 30 people.

On January 3, four people, were killed and five injured after a fire broke out in a residential building in Mumbai's Andheri (East).

The sessions court fire came a day after a blaze at the Cinevista Studio in the city's Kanjurmarg.
