British Labor Party Thinks a New Brexit Referendum is Possible

Mr Corbyn also hit back at critics within the party calling for the United Kingdom to remain in the EU single market and customs union after Brexit.

"Voters are in the dark when it comes to the big three parties' views on Brexit", said Josiah Mortimer, editor of the Left Foot Forward website, which commissioned the BMG survey.

The founder of Momentum, the left wing organisation, has been elected the body which runs the Labour Party as Jeremy Corbyn tightens his group on the party.

He also said he had no problem with moderate MPs such as Stella Creasey and Stephen Kinnock continuing in their jobs, despite their opposition to Corbyn in the past.

On Sunday, Corbyn also slammed President Donald Trump, condemning him for "failing to support" the United Nations, and appearing to dismiss the notion of a "special relationship" between the UK and the US.

The results were published on the same day Nicola Sturgeon warned that a no deal Brexit could lead to a 8.5 per cent reduction in Scottish GDP by 2030.

Mr Corbyn acknowledged having a relationship with and influence over the USA was important "because it is such a huge military and economic power around the world".

"We are not supporting or calling for a second referendum". As Adam Boulton put it in his Sunday Times column, this means that for "the first time in Labour's history "the left" will dominate all three of the party's centres of power: the trade unions, the shadow cabinet in parliament and the national executive".

'But, at the moment, and as things now stand, we proceed in good faith, we do as we are instructed and we are leaving the European Union.

'There are also aspects of the single market one wants to think about such as the restrictions on state aid to industry, which is something that I would wish to challenge'.

'Every step of the way Labour are trying to frustrate the Brexit process rather than make a success of it.

He added: "I'm not sure anyone has succeeded in defining the special relationship".

"The US one is obviously culturally and economically significant and important".

"The US [relationship] is obviously culturally and economically significant", he said, before stressing the growing importance of trading relationships with the EU, India, China and global institutions such as the United Nations.

The comments came after some Labour figures called for the party to change tack and campaign to remain in the single market and customs union after withdrawal.

"Also our relationship with worldwide institutions such as the United Nations is very important".
