After de Villiers and du Plessis, SA suffer de Kock blow

India wins both matches comfortably, Run Machine-Kohli completed his 33rd ODI hundred and completed his 9000 INTL runs in the first ODI of this series which helps India to win this match by 6 wickets.

The selectors will not name a replacement for De Kock in the squad, which means Heinrich Klaasen, the only other specialist wicketkeeper in the squad, is nearly certain to make his ODI debut in Cape Town on Wednesday. Despite defeat in Durban, du Plessis was adamant that "two spinners didn't fit into their team balance".

With du Plessis still part of the dressing room despite his injury, this was more of a change in keeping with the pitch conditions on Sunday than anything else. The third ODI at Capetown will boost the team record as well as their first series victory in South Africa.

Meanwhile, the Indian team is relishing a fine role reversal from the Test series. Pandey knocked the head off South Africa's batting order, taking the opening three wickets to leave the hosts 23/3. Till now Team India has managed to win only one match out of three ODI's in Capetown.

The hosts disappointed with the bat and were shot out for just 125 in 43.2 overs, allowing the Indians to go 1-0 up in the series, which was the first for the South Africans in the ICC Women's Championship - the qualifying tournament for the 2021 ICC Women's World Cup. If that happens, then in Cape Town (Newlands), India will win the third of five matches in 1992. India has never won a Bilateral Series in South Africa, although they were close in 2010-11, yet they failed to win that series and they end their tour with 3-2 in One-day Internationals.

India's spin bowlers have dominated the series thus far and given the visitors a real chance of winning their maiden ODI series on South African soil. Although the team management has been consistently saying that they do not pay much attention to the rankings, but Kohli and Company would not want to lose points and would prefer to stay at the top.
