Oklahoma basketball: NCAA selection committee has Sooners as No. 4 seed

If the tournament started today, the Blue Devils would be the No. 2 seed in the East Region with Villanova as the top seed, Texas Tech as the No. 3 seed and Ohio State seeded fourth.

Virginia would be the No. 1 overall seed, despite its overtime loss to Virginia Tech on Saturday.

South: 1. Virginia, 2. Its strength of schedule is rated No. 94 in the country. That ranking would make Duke a No. 2 seed in the NCAA tournament.

The overall No. 1 seed as chosen by the committee is Virginia, with Villanova, Xavier and Purdue, a team that just lost to the Spartans, being named as the other No. 1 seeds.

Cincinnati, Michigan State and Tennessee were the projected No. 2-No.

Villanova was selected as the second No. 1 seed (East Region).

The No. 2 Cavaliers (23-2, 12-1 ACC) travel to No. 25 Miami (18-6, 7-5 ACC) on Tuesday to face the Hurricanes at 9 p.m.at the Watsco Center. The South Regional semifinals and final are set for Atlanta, the city in which Virginia last won a regional championship to reach the Final Four, that in 1984.

Despite Saturday's defeat, Virginia remained No. 1 on the NCAA's Rating Percentage Index on Sunday. It will likely be ranked in the top three of the Associated Press poll on Monday. I certainly would have been excited, but again, it's always about quality of play.
