'Pretty much everyone on the plane threw up': Monster storm wreaks havoc

Flying can be an unpleasant experience, with long waits, delays, and of course turbulence.

The National Weather Service Aviation Weather Center sent a tweet from the pilot's report that read, "IAD UUA /OV KIAD/TM 1238/FL040/TP CRJ2/TB MOD-SEV/RM VERY BUMPY ON DESCENT".

Later Friday, United Airlines, which operated the flight, offered a slightly less drastic account of what had occurred.

The flight was en route to Washington Dulles International Airport when it was hit with bad weather from a powerful nor'easter, bombarding the East Coast with violent winds, torrential rain and snow.

American Airlines said all of its fights in and out of Boston, New York City and Washington, D.C., airports were cancelled Friday. The extreme bumpiness of the flight, thanks to the particularly nasty storm, gave passengers and crew an upset stomach. "A few customers onboard the regional jet became ill as the aircraft was preparing to land".

It's true 1 by 1 we all started getting sick. The 50-passenger plane landed safely and there were no injuries reported or medical care needed.

Flightaware.com was reporting more than 2,000 cancellations late Friday morning. Another 10,000 were delayed according to the flight-tracking website.

On March 2nd, a nor'easter, bomb cyclone, winter storm or whatever other names the weather people are calling it now, rolled through the Northeast and wreaked all sorts of havoc in the region.
