How Shaquem Griffin's National Football League combine performance inspires others

On Sunday, Griffin will run the 40-yard dash, do some quickness drills and some on-field testing at Lucas Oil Stadium.

After having his hand amputated at age 4 because of amniotic band syndrome, a congenital condition, not many could have predicted that Griffin would play football, let alone college football. Griffin still remembers first getting fitted for the prosthetic at UCF, and how challenging those first few reps felt.

Griffin's talent and ability to overcome adversity isn't new to those on University of Central Florida's campus - where Griffin once starred as linebacker for the Knights - or those with Limbitless Solutions, which creates and delivers bionic limbs to children all across the globe.

"Wow man. wow. I'm not going to get emotional on the phone, but it's an honor".

Griffin, whose twin brother Shaquill made a pre-draft visit to the Titans previous year and is a cornerback with the Seahawks, didn't initially receive an invitation to Indianapolis. "I didn't know I had it in me, but it came out [Saturday]". His workouts left football fans inspired - and plenty of NFL teams with heightened interest in the linebacker.

"People didn't think I'd be able to do it, and him just saying five (reps), I mean, five to me is just warming up", said Griffin, who used a black prosthetic device affixed to his left forearm. Don't set limits for me, because when I wake up in the morning and I brush my teeth and I look at myself in the mirror, it's only me that I see in the mirror. It was the fastest time for a linebacker going back to 2006, the first year ESPN Stats & Information began documenting 40 times at the combine.

"If I can inspire one, and they can inspire another and (soon we'll) inspire a thousand", Griffin said. "Played well against high level competition". Griffin attended UCF with twin brother Shaquill, who was selected by the Seahawks in the third round of the 2017 draft and is now one of the up-and-coming cornerbacks in the league, according to Bleacher Report.

Griffin recorded 166 total tackles and 18.5 sacks over his last two seasons at Central Florida. I got the guys I'm here with hyping me up.

Griffin went on to talk about inspiring others and proving others wrong.
