Microsoft will open first Middle East data centers in 2019

The company's engagement with financial institutions and regulators in Switzerland, for example, has resulted in a deeper understanding of the local market, ultimately resulting in Microsoft's intent to be the first global cloud operator to introduce cloud regions in the country - specifically in Geneva and Zurich. The Microsoft Cloud - comprising Microsoft Azure, Office 365 and Dynamics 365 - from Swiss datacenters is expected to be initially available in 2019. The company will offer Microsoft Azure, Office 365 and Dynamics 365 from new datacentre locations, in addition to the options now available in Germany. "This will accelerate new investments and job opportunities across the Middle East".

"What our customers appreciate is choice", said Microsoft Azure's head of global infrastructure Tom Keane in an interview.

Although Microsoft does not reveal earnings by region, previous year it reported that the Middle East and Africa is one of the fastest growing regions in the world for its cloud computing business. "Our ambition is for the Microsoft Cloud to form a strategic part of the backbone for regional economic development". Also starting March 14, existing Office 365 customers from France and French territories will be able to opt-in to be moved to the local cloud regions in France.

Microsoft has a long history of collaboration with various companies which are reliable.

Finastra has already moved its United States payments line to Azure, and more business lines will follow over the next 12 months.

"This brings our data centre footprint to a total of 50 regions globally, and we believe that this is the largest of any major cloud provider", Hashish said. The two products are the only productivity and business application platforms that can offer in-geo data residency across such a broad set of locations.

By delivering Microsoft cloud from data centers in a given geography, Microsoft will continue to fulfill their data security and compliance needs to the companies.
