Naresh Agrawal apologises for Jaya Bachchan remark, blames media for 'twisting' words

Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Agrawal kicked a hornet's nest in national politics with his "who used to dance and work in films" comment against senior heroine-turned-politician Jaya Bachchan. We have always welcomed leaders from Samajwadi Party with open arms since these are 2 very like-minded parties. "I will vote for BJP in Rajya Sabha and I thank PM Modi for showing faith on me".

For the past few days, Agarwal was always spotted with Ram Gopal in Delhi.

Naresh agarwal joined the BJP after quiting SP on Monday.

Agrawal, who till recently had been making controversial comments against the BJP and even the RSS, showered praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

In Uttar Pradesh, a Rajya Sabha candidate needs 37 votes to be elected.

Agarwal said he was being neglected in the SP and was hurt when instead of him, the party gave the ticket to Jaya Bachchan "who used to dance in films'".

Speaking to reporters, UP Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said, "If you see our list of Rajya Sabha candidates, all the regions have got representation on the basis of merit". Last year, Agarwal had linked Hindu deities to alcohol causing a massive uproar.

Agrarwal was also in the centre of controversy after his comment on Kulbhushan Jadhav, who has been detained by Pakistan by suspecting him of being a terrorist.

Commenting on this development, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said,"Of course if Mulayam Singh ji wants to come then he is most welcome to BJP".

The SAD is one of the oldest allies of the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 1997, he, along with 21 other MLAs, broke away and formed the Loktantrik Congress to support Kalyan Singh's government in the state.

The three former MLCs are now in the BJP. In 2008, Agarwal joined the BSP and his son Nitin Agarwal became an MLA from Hardoi.

Naresh Agrawal had joined BJP by quitting SP yesterday.
