The BJP today dismissed the charges of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu against the Union government as "frivolous" and something which no one will believe, and cited a number of central projects in the state to underline its commitment to development there.
Campaigning in the national Capital, Naidu met key Opposition leaders including Congress' Veerappa Moily, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah, Nationalist Congress Party's Sharad Pawar, Trinamool Congress' Derek O'Brien and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The TDP leader discussed the issue of Special Category Status and the "injustice" met out to his state by the Centre during the meeting.
"We give them Krishna water", said Naidu. "He should not go to the extent of saying that the BJP is attacking Andhra", Javadekar said.
Ramesh told reporters that the TDP leader was also expected to meet Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal later on Wednesday. According to party leaders, Naidu had secretly met some Supreme Court judges in Delhi, with whom cases pertaining to Naidu were pending. "There are some historical reasons like north-eastern states, hilly region, all these things that you have to protect but some states are having excellent resources, they have to move forward and develop", he said. "And that decision had already been taken", Pawan Munjal, chairman and managing director of two-wheeler major Hero Motocorp, recently said at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for a factory at Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.
He also met veteran BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, Hema Malini and Jayant Sinha, and Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia. Chandrababu said all he was focusing right now is to get due benefits to the truncated state of Andhra Pradesh. The party also moved a no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government over the issue. "They want to damage my credibility which was built over a period of 40 years", Naidu said. Responding to a question on Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal's recent statement on the TDP government was not giving an account of Centre's aid, Naidu said that the NDA government did not have any problem with him till he was a part of their alliance, but now that he parted ways, they were raising baseless allegations. "Then why not to Andhra Pradesh?" he asked. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has also been trying to become the face of third front and has been meeting other leaders of the opposition parties.
