No Iranians killed in missile attack on Syria: Informed source

Missile strikes overnight in central Syria killed at least 26 pro-regime fighters, majority Iranians, a monitor said on Monday.

The country's state-run news agency reported that military facilities in the central city of Hama and Aleppo in the north had been hit.

The target of the attack was depots of ground-to-ground missiles belonging to the Iranian militiamen, the report said. Netanyahu also received Sunday in Tel Aviv for new U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who made his first visit to Saudi Arabia, Israel and Jordan.

Reuters quoted an Israeli military spokesman, Lieut-Col Jonathan Conricus, as saying, "We don't comment on foreign reports and we have no information at this time".

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced almost half of the country's pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.

"But if somebody thinks that it is possible to launch missiles or to attack Israel or even our aircraft, no doubt we will respond and we will respond very forcefully", Lieberman said.

The security cabinet was expected to discuss recent events in Syria, including an overnight strike on military positions and weapons caches which a monitor group said was "likely" carried out by Israel.

Hezbollah is among the key backers of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who also counts on support from Iran and Russian Federation.

Suspected Israeli missile strikes hit two Iran-linked military bases in Syria, according to a monitoring group on Monday, sharpening regional tensions as rival forces wage shadow wars across the war-ravaged country. It cited "local sources and activists" for its report.

Syria condemned the attack as a "new aggression".

According to the Observatory, the death toll could rise as the attack also wounded 60 fighters and there were several others still missing. The missiles were delivered by F-35 airplanes, the sources said.

Trump had given European co-signatories to the 2015 accord until May 12 to amend the deal with tougher inspections and measures targeting its ballistic missile programs.

The state media in Damascus have not realized casualties recorded in attacks on base of Brigade 47 in Salhab (Hama) or against military airfield of Nairab, near airport of Aleppo. In mid-April a strike on the T4 airbase in Homs province blamed on Israel killed seven IRGC soldiers, including Col. Mehdi Dehghan, who led the drone unit operating out of the base.

"The Syrians must announce the statistics as they are responsible".
