Facebook F8 attendees will reportedly receive the Oculus Go

The Oculus Go is made up of two components: a headset that sits over the eyes and a remote that you hold in your hand while you're playing games or interact with other virtual reality content. Facebook said that out of the box, the headset will be compatible with more than 1,000 games, social apps, and 360-degree "experiences". The headset cuts the cord versus the original Oculus Rift, with a fully self-contained VR system and wireless controller.

The product page also states that Amazon doesn't know "when or if this item will be back in stock".

Oculus had been keeping quiet about when, exactly, Go would go on sale, only saying that it expected to launch the standalone headset in early 2018.

In fact, the Oculus Go arguably shares more in common with Samsung's Gear VR than it does Oculus' tethered headset. Earlier today, an image briefly appeared on a Facebook VR group page showing a sign "informing attendees that they can pick up their own Oculus Go unit at the registration desk later today".

What is Oculus Go?

The listing also says the device is only eligible for shipping to U.S. addresses. If you want, you can also order the Oculus Go from Amazon, Best Buy, and Newegg. As far as pricing goes, it will retail for $199 for the 32GB variant, while the 64GB model will be priced at $249.

Zuckerberg has billed the device as an attempt to make VR adopted by the masses, with the goal of getting one billion people using the technology, which transports people into simulated environments.

The Oculus Go has a 2560 x 1440 LCD screen, a Snapdragon 821 processor, and integrated spatial audio. Aside from that, Amazon offered guaranteed launch date release and gave customers the option to trade in old games and hardware to defray the Oculus VR's cost. It has 3DoF positional tracking both in the headset and the controller.
