Apple's TV App Could Start Selling Streaming Subscriptions Next Year

Apple's TV App Could Start Selling Streaming Subscriptions Next Year

It's not clear as to which services Apple will offer under its unified subscription plan, however, its been confirmed that the service will run under the "TV" app.

This strategy is similar to Amazon's Prime Video Channel which allows consumers to subscribe to HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Showtime, and CBS All Access from a centralized location. It will also boost the company's growing services business. Much of that content can't be viewed without a paid subscription to a third-party service. Consumption of the purchased content likewise takes place in third-party apps. It unifies all the streaming services, movies from stores and basically everything that's available on an user's Apple TV into a single search field.

Apple is following the footsteps of competitor Amazon with plans to amalgamate all of its TV subscriptions into its Apple TV app. Subscriptions will be directly sold through the TV app.

Once a series has been chosen, Apple sends clients outside TV to see it. The TV app will become the principal means to find, buy, and watch content on the Apple TV, iPad, and iPhone. According to Bloomberg, revenue from services climbed 31 percent last quarter. Variety has reported that some industry insiders confirmed before that Amazon is the leading seller of video subscription services.

Channels has proved to be a big success since it was first launched at the end of 2015.

There's now more than a dozen Apple TV shows in the works although it remains unclear as to whether there will be a dedicated service built for the content or if it will simply be available via iTunes or Apple Music. Apple's new video distribution approach is just the latest in the list of experimentations the company has carried out.
