President Trump Delivers Commencement Address at Naval Academy's Graduation in Maryland

President Donald Trump on Friday told the graduating class of Naval Academy students that the US military is "respected again" under his leadership.

Following the commencement address, ABC News released a 41-second time-lapse video of President Trump shaking hands with hundreds of graduates for close to an hour and a half.

"Contrast this to the personal and professional honor of the sitting president of the United States, who time and again makes small choices guided by self-interest, ego, impulse and immediate self-gratification", they write. "And when did we need it more than now?"

The 2018 class included 283 Navy aviators, 276 surface warfare officers, 236 Marines, 135 Navy Seals, 70 restricted line officers, and 15 explosive ordinance disposal technicians.

"Our country has regained the respect that we used to have long ago", said Trump, who did not mention North Korea in his remarks.

"We'll see what happens".

President Donald Trump stressed the United States' military might as he addressed graduates at the United States Naval Academy Friday, saying the "best way to prevent war is to be fully prepared for war".

"We are witnessing the great reawakening of the American Spirit and of American might". We are going to stand up for America. "Yes, they're respecting us again", he said. But in recent years, the problem grew worse. "We are going to stand up for our values, and we are going to stand up for our men and women in uniform".

"I'll stay, I'll stay", the president said, responding to the applause from the audience.

The president began his commencement address by praising the graduates' diligence and patriotism, in a speech that seemed to largely stick to the script. Last year, Trump addressed the Coast Guard Academy.
