Trump is back to publicly bashing Jeff Sessions

When House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Trey Gowdy pushed back on President Donald Trump's Spygate concerns during a Fox News interview Tuesday, mainstream media outlets and pundits splashed the South Carolina Republican's comments everywhere.

The president now says he regrets hiring Jeff Sessions as US Attorney General.

Trump reacted to the interview on Twitter Wednesday morning, quoting Gowdy and expressing regret that he had appointed Jeff Sessions as attorney general because of his recusal from the Russian Federation investigation.

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., questioned Attorney General Jeff Sessions, in November 2017, during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington.

"I think when the President finds out what happened he's going to be not just fine, he's going to be glad we have an Federal Bureau of Investigation that took seriously what they heard".

Gowdy told CBS on Wednesday that he could sympathize with Trump's frustrations about Sessions based on what he called Sessions' reticence about his willingness to take part in the Russian Federation probe.

But Gowdy Wednesday said that based on the information he was provided the true target of the FBI's investigative efforts was Russia's efforts to meddle in the 2016 election.

Trump's criticism has flown since at least July 2017 when he told The Times Sessions would not have been chosen if he knew a recusal was on the way. And both Giuliani and influential Republican lawmakers have hinted that, once special counsel Robert Mueller's probe wraps up, Sessions could be in danger again.

Former Judge Andrew Napolitano, a Trump favorite, followed Gowdy, and he was similarly unimpressed with the claims being made by Trump and Giuliani.

In the past year, Trump has publicly referred to his attorney general as "beleaguered" and even referred to Sessions in February as "Mr. Magoo" behind closed doors, according to The Washington Post. "Donald Trump is entitled as President of the United States constitutionally to have any discussion with Jeff Sessions".

The agency did not, however, tell campaign officials that it might authorize informants to gather intelligence on them or their advisers. "But this is what I said, Lawrence, a couple of weeks ago when I talked about grumble bragging from members of this administration ..."
