Patty Jenkins' first teaser about 'Wonder Woman 2' may reveal setting, title

According to ScreenRant, Jenkins verified that Wonder Woman 2 will take place in the 1980s.

DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer (and DC Films co-chairman) Geoff Johns has debuted the first tease for the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel, a logo card that simply reads "WW84". This means the sequel will happen 60 years after the 2017 original, which was set during World War I. However this reveal confirms specifically what year the film will be set in. The original Wonder Woman took place in 1917; advancing the story by almost seven decades is quite the leap. Narcos and Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal is among the new entrants to the franchise. The '80s, after all, was one of the most interesting eras in music, film, art, and culture. Gal Gadot returns as Diana with a script by Jenkins, Johns and Dave Callaham.

Wonder Woman was a big hit for Warner Bros. last year, setting numerous records on its way to $821 million worldwide and becoming the top-grossing film of all time from a female filmmaker with solo directing duties. It was originally scheduled to premiere on December 13, 2019, but the bigwigs made a decision to move it up to avoid competing with Star Wars: Episode IX.
