Katie Taylor’s dad Pete in serious condition after shooting at gym

Pete Taylor, the father and former trainer of Katie Taylor, was shot Tuesday during an attack at the boxing gym he runs in Ireland.

Gardaí have appealed for information from the public to help track the gunman which killed one man and injured two others in a shooting in Bray boxing club on Tuesday.

A suspect fled the scene in a silver van.

The incident took place at about 6:55 am this morning and the three men are believed to be seriously injured.

It is understood that Mr Taylor was shot in the arm although the bullet may have also hit his torso.

Mr Taylor is thought to be in a serious but not life threatening condition.

After viewing CCTV in the area, Gardaí have appealed for information on a silver coloured Volkswagen Caddy with Northern Irish plates which is believed to be the getaway auto.

They are appealing for witnesses to contact Bray Garda Station on 01 6665300.

He went on to train Katie to help her win six World Championships titles, six European Championships and five EU Championships.

A forensic examination of the scene is being carried out by Gardaí (Irish police).

'The gym is council-owned and it is operated by Pete Taylor, who is Katie's dad'.

Local Sinn Fein MP John Brady said the incident had brought "another dark day for Bray".

Ireland's health minister Simon Harris, who represents the constituency of Wicklow, tweeted: "Shocking news in Bray this morning".
