NSA John Bolton Held Out of North Korea Talks by White House

With just two weeks out from the planned Trump-Kim Jong Un summit in Singapore, North Korea has made a few significant military changes.

In 2008, Singapore sent its then foreign minister, George Yeo, on an official visit to North Korea.

Trump and Kim are expected to meet next Tuesday at the Capella Hotel on Sentosa Island for negotiations on North Korea's nuclear weapon program.

Now the former Chicago Bulls star is rumoured to be attending next week's historic summit between the North and the USA in Singapore.

According to North Korea's state-run Korean Central News Agency, "a ugly terrorists' group" directed by CIA and South Korean spies "ideologically corrupted" a North Korean dissident identified as "Kim" and paid the man more than $20,000 to carry out the attack.

Singapore also revoked all work permits held by North Korean citizens in March.

United States officials, led by Joe Hagin, the deputy White House chief of staff for operations, negotiated with a North Korean delegation last week to determine the location and time for the summit.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said the two leaders would first meet at 9:00 am local time (6:30 am IST) and that President Trump was receiving daily briefings from his national security team. Part of its appeal as summit host was its the fact it has one foot in the East and one in the West, as well as being modern, efficient and secure. "We're going to start a process", Trump said. "We're not paying for their expenses".

In 2017, North Korea accused USA and South Korean intelligence services of hatching an assassination plot against Kim with a "biochemical substance".

Since the inter-Korean detente began at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in February, there has also been a flurry of diplomatic activity between the North and South.

"Through these series of meetings, I'm confident we're moving in the right direction. It could be nothing short of tragic to let this opportunity go to waste", Pompeo said.

Schumber added: "We're all hoping the president will succeed in rooting for peace".
