Robertson: Mohamed Salah can emulate Messi and Ronaldo

Meanwhile, speculation has continued that Madrid president Florentino Perez has targeted Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar as part of a summer shake-up at the Bernabeu which looks more likely now after coach Zinedine Zidane stepped down last week.

The latest claims on TV talk show "El Chiringuito de los Jugones" alleged that Ronaldo was deeply upset and hurt by news from a meeting which took place at the Bernabeu on Tuesday between club officials and his representatives. According to the Portuguese newspaper Record, Perez's unfulfilled promises and "lack of recognition" is the reason behind current doubts about his future at the La Liga club.

With all the rumours surrounding Cristiano's future at Real Madrid, it appears there's another one to add to the pile.

"If Cristiano stays, does that mean that Neymar can't come?"

Marco Asensio admits he can not imagine a Real Madrid without Cristiano Ronaldo and believes the Portugal superstar still has a big part to play at Santiago Bernabeu.

Reports also indicate that Ronaldo believes Real Madrid have not supported him well enough with regards to a potential court case surrounding image rights.

He has won two league titles, two Copas del Rey and four Champions Leagues, as well as a host of individual awards like the Ballon d'Or. From the start I was very clear about things, I knew what was coming and I worked hard to get these opportunities.

Neymar, who is under contract with PSG until 2022, will be strutting his stuff alongside Marcelo later this month when the World Cup takes place in Russian Federation.

Ten players from the Euro 2016 squad have missed out on the trip to Russian Federation, either due to injuries or a loss of form at club level, and Santos has already said it is proving more hard to pick the team than it was two years ago.
