E3 2018: Devil May Cry 5 officially announced

Maybe it's the short hair. Check out the trailer for yourself below. That suggests that the DMC reboot (that was technically the most recent release in the series) is being largely left behind. The trailer shows Nero, the protagonist of Devil May Cry 4, as a playable character. In the beginning of the video, fans will find a giant demon tree planted in the Red Grave City.

The story behind Nero's new arm is closely tied to the introduction of his ally, the brand-new character named Nico. Nero does make an appearance screaming for Kyrie to hide, but not before ripping the robotic arm off the newbie. DmC2? Seriously, this looks like nu-Dante then, right at the end, we get a glimpse of someone who looks much more traditional.

Just because Dante is missing his arm doesn't mean there is a shortage of action coming in Devil May Cry 5.

Rumors of Devil May Cry 5 have cropped up for years, so it's nice to see that Capcom is responding to what fans want.

Are you looking forward to Devil May Cry 5?

The game is also being built using 343's new Slipspace Engine, which is detailed in a new blog. But at Microsoft's E3 2018 event, Nero and Dante made a triumphant, and predictably ridiculous, return to the spotlight.

Devil May Cry 5 is set to launch in Spring 2019 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
