Mother accused of killing daughter by throwing her into Hillsborough River

A Florida mother who allegedly threw her 4-year-old daughter into a river in Tampa, Florida, has been charged with murder, police said on Thursday. She then parked the vehicle, and witnesses told police she waded into the Hillsborough River with her child.

Neither the woman nor child have been identified publicly.

Officials said 911 calls started coming in around 4 p.m. from witnesses saying they'd seen a woman wade into the river just north of the Columbus Drive bridge with a child.

Police believe the child to be the 4-year-old daughter of the woman, whom officers arrested near the scene.

She's since been charged with first degree felony murder, aggravated child abuse and grand theft auto.

"Unfortunately", Dugan said, "when you're dealing with these tragic situations, we tend to have more questions than answers.we still have a tremendous amount of information to sift through". "We're still digging into Denson and what her state of mind is", said Dugan.

"My brain knows I couldn't have done anything but my heart aches knowing a child died right there and I watched her mother walk away from it", she told the Times.

A GoFundMe page that was created by Denson in October 2017 stated Je'Hyrah was diagnosed with autism, the report said. ". they felt paralyzed by the whole thing".

Denson was ordered Friday held without bail on a first-degree murder charge. She was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Her body was discovered about two hours later. He said he saw crews pull the girl's "lifeless" body from the river.

On Jan. 8, 2015, 5-year-old Pheobe was thrown off the Dick Misener Bridge into Tampa Bay by her father, John Jonchuck.

The identity of the woman and child have not been released at this time.

"Our hearts hurt for the loss of Je'Hyrah Daniels", Sheriff's Office spokesman Danny Alvarez stated.
