Brad Pitt's pals come to his defense: He's no deadbeat dad

Per the filing, Jolie intends to file for retroactive child support. "If the minor children remain closed down to their father and depending on the circumstances surrounding this condition", the court document read (via CNN), "It may result in a reduction of the time they spend with [Jolie] and may result in the Court ordering primary physical custody to [Pitt]".

According to new court documents obtained by "Good Morning America", the actress is seeking formal child support from her estranged husband, claiming he has not financially contributed in a "meaningful" way to their six children's well-being since their 2016 separation. Now, she's filed divorce papers in court asking for the star to both pay child support and retroactively pay what he's missed. "As of present, [Pitt] has paid no meaningful child support since separation", Jolie's attorney, Samantha Bley DeJean, writes in the legal documents that were filed on Tuesday.

The drama in the long-running divorce case of former Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has hit a new level.

Pitt was later provided with cell phone numbers for each child, in order to text and call them without Jolie's supervision.

A source told E News: 'Brad and Angelina are not even close to settling their divorce. "But she filed in LA Superior Court knowing that it would go public and that he would be made out to be a deadbeat dad, which he isn't", the friend told Page Six.

The source continued, "There will be no settlement or resolution anytime soon".

The latest news comes after a spokesperson for the actress slammed reports suggesting she was parting ways with her attorney during a crucial juncture in her custody battle.

The divorce filing, citing irreconcilable differences, triggered a bitter custody dispute during which Pitt was investigated and cleared of child abuse.

"From the start, Angelina has been focused on their health and needs, which is why it was so important that this last court hearing be conducted privately", the statement provided by her representative continued.
