Liverpool have defensive worries ahead of West Ham tie

Liverpool FC signed AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho and RB Leipzig's Guinea worldwide Naby Keita to bolster their options in the middle of the park under Klopp.

The Reds have strengthened in the close season with the likes of Alisson, Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri arriving and boss Klopp says Liverpool are ready to "really go for it".

"Make the best of it".

While City have not spent as much as Liverpool in this window, they have been among the biggest spenders in the English top-flight for a few years now and a majority of their squad looks likely to remain the same in the years to come. "We had to create a squad which is strong enough and wide enough to cope with the Premier League". "That's all part of the business, but it doesn't decide anything", Klopp said about his club's blockbuster summer transfer window, which has drawn widespread praise.

"We are still Rocky Balboa and not Ivan Drago, we are the ones who have to do more and fight more, that must be our attitude".

"We don't have any special plans just for him because it would be easier if Liverpool were just Mo Salah, but they aren't. But it is clear things will happen", he said. Maybe with the way his team plays or because of other problems.

"It is hard for us and the other teams too".

Despite spending £250million on new players in 2018, Klopp believes City are still the team to beat and used the Rocky IV film to emphasise his point. It's about making the right decisions in the right moment.

But the German on Friday insisted they were still underdogs in the battle for the league crown, saying: "We are still Rocky Balboa and not Ivan Drago". We have to improve everything. We were in finals.

"We didn't reach anything so far".

"The league is exactly the same".

The 21-year-old Nathaniel Phillips made three showings in the International Champions Cup in pre-season and started at Anfield in the club's final warm-up game ahead of the season opener against Torino.
